Our Story
Remember the old adage, “when life gives you lemons”? You know, you take a sour moment in life and then realize you have the key ingredients available to you to transform it into something really sweet and delicious? That’s the story of visualade.
The year was 2001, and the Dot-com bubble had burst. The American economy would experience its first recession in the new internet era as the stock market was in a free fall, deflating faster than ever. Businesses across the nation, particularly within the tech sector, were shutting their doors and saying goodbye to valued staff members. And for other reasons too serious to speak to here, it was one of America’s most difficult years on record.
So, on one of those days in 2001, a designer, a developer, and a back-end programmer were let go from the same company. Like so many others caught up in the Dot-com crash, they were left wondering what came next. Jobs were scarce, and the future felt uncertain.
Still, they had skills, a vision, and a drive to keep creating. What started as a setback became the push to do something new. That’s how visualade was born. The name reflects a commitment to turning tough moments into opportunities and raw ideas into something refreshing.
From those early days, visualade has grown into a team dedicated to design that helps people connect, understand, and move forward. What began with a handful of projects around a hand-built Birch plywood desk has become years of collaboration with clients across industries.
And through it all, it hasn’t just been about the original founders. visualade has been shaped by the many talented people who have contributed their creativity, craft, and care along the way. For more than two decades, our staff have been at the heart of what makes our work possible. They are the ones who bring fresh ideas, solve hard problems, and keep raising the bar.
All of it remains rooted in the belief that design should make life a little clearer, and a little sweeter. Because when life gives you lemons, you make visualade.
